「得やすいものは失いやすい」
日本でもよく耳にするこのフレーズですが、勘違いして「気楽にいこう」という意味にとっている人も多いようです。
直訳すると「簡単に来るものは、簡単に去りゆく」ということから、
正しくは、「得やすいものは失いやすい」という意味になります。

Frank: Hey Justin! I heard you achieved double your sales target last month. Excellent job!
「やあジャスティン、先月目標200%達成だったんだって？すばらしいね！」
Justin: Thanks for that. I got pretty lucky with some new clients that came in, which really helped.
「ありがとう。新しい顧客が入って運がよかったんだよ。」
Frank: So, what are you going to do with the big commission payment? Invest in the stock market maybe?
「大金の歩合はどう遣うつもり？株に投資とか？」
Justin: Unfortunately, that money is basically already spent. I have to pay my kids college loans at the end of next month!
「残念だけどもう遣っちゃったんだよね。来月末までに子供の大学ローンを支払わなくちゃいけなくて。」
Frank: Ahh, I see. Well, I guess when it comes to money, it’s easy come, easy go, right?
「あーそうなんだ。まあお金に関しては、『得やすいものは失いやすい』っていうからね。」
Justin: Yeah, that’s for sure!
「ああ間違いないね！」
お金やプレゼントなどの思いがけない幸運に見舞われたあと、
それがすぐになくなってしまったときは、この”Easy Come, Easy Go”を使うと諦めがつきやすくなるかもしれません。
