手を抜く
“cut corners”はもともと、台車をひいている馬が角を曲がる際、車道からはみ出て斜めに曲がる様子から、「近道する」や「手を抜く」という意味で使われています。
早く済ませるために、安全で確実な方法をとらないことを指して、ビジネスシーンでもよく使われているイディオムです。

Christian: Well, it is a very important project and we don’t want to cut corners, so let’s start looking for someone right now.

Michael: That’s fantastic, thanks a lot. I agree that we should do this properly and not take any shortcuts.

Christian: Definitely. I’ll put up a new Job Posting for the Developer job first thing this morning.
