Commodity Specialist

Position Summary:
This role is assigned as the procurement leader for certain material categories and as the initiator to identify new sourcing opportunity in Japan. Responsibilities may include working with global procurement personnel and business leaders to achieve business goals and objectives, developing and implementing purchasing strategies, selecting and developing suppliers, negotiating contract and managing the relationships with the suppliers.

Tasks and responsibilities of the position:

• Develops purchasing strategies for the assigned raw materials to support the company achieving business goals and objectives
• By collaborating with technology, business and suppliers to identify innovative opportunities in Japan to support global Momentive to reach the purpose of cost reduction or supply security improvement
• Conduct market analysis and build industry network to provide intelligence and insights to business
• Manages the suppliers, which includes selecting and evaluating suppliers, establishing contracts and prices, maintaining relationships and performance, and related activities based on market changes and needs
• Manages continuous improvement plan, which includes developing and implementing productivity plans, reliable supplies plans
• Works with business team and technology team, and provides support from purchasing in developing new products

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor or plus degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or business management
• Commercial acumen and willing to work under pressure
• Analytical and strategic thinking skills
• Demonstrated ability to effectively negotiate
• Native in Japanese.  English both in written and spoken

Preferred Qualifications:

• No less than 3 years of commercial, marketing or raw materials purchasing in relevant industry
• SAP materials management experience preferred
