Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager of Infrastructure (AWS) to lead and manage our cloud infrastructure team. This position will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and optimization of our AWS-based infrastructure, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security across the organization's systems. The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in AWS, cloud technologies, and infrastructure management, along with strong leadership and team management skills.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Cloud Infrastructure Management:

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and management of AWS cloud environments (EC2, S3, VPC, Lambda, RDS, etc.).
  • Ensure systems are highly available, resilient, and scalable, and meet organizational SLAs.
  • Perform cost optimization across the AWS infrastructure while maintaining performance and security standards.

2. Infrastructure Leadership:

  • Lead and manage a team of infrastructure engineers, cloud, and operations specialists.
  • Develop and execute the infrastructure strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and IT objectives.
  • Provide hands-on guidance to the team on AWS best practices, design patterns, and cloud architecture.

3. Technical Expertise:

  • Deep knowledge of cloud architecture, systems administration, and cloud networking in AWS.
  • Strong expertise in automation and infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).
  • Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (e.g., CloudWatch, Datadog, Splunk).
  • Strong understanding of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and their integration into cloud environments.

Security & Compliance:

  • Ensure the infrastructure meets industry standards and complies with internal and external security, governance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with the security team to enforce best practices for IAM, encryption, and other security protocols within AWS.

Operational Excellence:

  • Manage day-to-day operations of AWS-based infrastructure and ensure system uptime, performance, and capacity planning.
  • Develop and implement disaster recovery and business continuity plans for cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Lead infrastructure monitoring, troubleshooting, and incident response, ensuring minimal downtime.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:

  • Work closely with other IT teams, including DevOps, Development, and Security, to ensure the infrastructure supports the organization's objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate infrastructure needs into application development pipelines.
  • Communicate regularly with senior leadership to report on project progress, issues, and strategy.

Team Development:

  • Hire, mentor, and develop a high-performing infrastructure team, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Conduct performance reviews and set clear goals for team members.
  • Promote collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing within the infrastructure team.

Required Skills

Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field. (Master’s degree or relevant certifications is a plus.)
  • 8+ years of experience in IT infrastructure management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Extensive experience managing and optimizing AWS infrastructure (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, VPC, etc.).
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale, complex cloud infrastructure environments.

Leadership & Communication:

  • Proven leadership abilities with experience managing cross-functional teams and leading initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, particularly in high-pressure situations.
