As a commodity buyer, you'll manage strategic sourcing and negotiate with suppliers to cut costs for components like semiconductors. Your key tasks include selecting suppliers, ensuring effective implementation, driving productivity initiatives, and maintaining quality standards. You'll collaborate with global teams and manage supplier relationships, focusing on negotiations and engineering changes.

Description

You will oversee strategic sourcing activities and negotiate with suppliers to enhance material cost efficiency for components, including:

  • Semiconductors
  • Electrical components
  • Module components
  • Mechanical components

Key responsibilities include:

  • Structuring the supplier panel
  • Managing supplier selection within your commodity segment for regional deployment
  • Cultivating relationships and negotiating with suppliers, supported by regional management
  • Ensuring strategic panel implementation during the development phase
  • Driving productivity initiatives and action plans
  • Establishing productivity sharing guidelines with suppliers
  • Monitoring supplier quality and delivery performance
  • Conducting strategic negotiations to meet annual targets
  • Leading value analysis and value engineering (VAVE) activities post-production
  • Collaborating with team members across global locations
  • Managing end-of-life (EOL), engineering change notices (ECN), and product change notices (PCN) after production

Additionally, as part of a global team, you will negotiate with assigned suppliers for all business operations worldwide.

Required Skills

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree or higher

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years in strategic sourcing or sales within a related industry
  • Strong understanding of embedded software contracts and statements of work (SOW), with basic contract drafting skills in both English and Japanese
  • In-depth knowledge of semiconductors, electrical components, module components, manufacturing costs, and industry trends

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and information-gathering abilities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Japanese and English
  • Ability to adapt to a diverse global environment
