Compliance Lead [Investment Management]

Company Profile

• A renowned fintech leader and disruptor in the direct-to-consumer space is now launching a new investment platform in Japan.

The Role

• In light of the launch of a new investment product, a global fintech player is now hiring a person to lead the go-to-market efforts.
• Your primary objective will be to lead the end-to-end process of acquiring a new financial license from the FSA, by developing and managing relationships with relevant government bodies and regulators in Japan
• Subsequently act as de facto CEO; leading the launch and go-to-market of the investment platform
• Develop partnerships with financial institutions (securities, banks and asset managers) and negotiate commercial terms
• Build out a team across different disciplines to maintain robust operational and governance as well as competitive product features
• Work cross-functionally i.e. compliance, GTM and product teams across the EU and Asia

Your Skills

• Japanese (Native) / English (Fluent level)
• 5+ years in a regulatory or compliance role, experience dealing with regulators in Japan directly
• Experience in the investment field or closely related i.e. Asset/Investment Management, Wealth Management, Retail Brokerage
• Superb analytical skills to quickly understand the regulatory environment and market a new product
• Strong relationship management to foster trusted relationships with regulators and financial institutions
• Being able to make balanced commercial and risk-based decisions
• Needs to be OK to work somewhat independently in Japan with a 'roll up your sleeves' mentality
