Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Bilingual Japanese/English Finance Manager to join our dynamic investment banking team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing financial operations, analysis, and strategic planning, while facilitating seamless communication between our Japanese and English-speaking clients and internal teams. This role demands strong analytical abilities, a deep understanding of investment banking, and fluency in both Japanese and English.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management: Oversee the financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting.
  • Analysis & Reporting: Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support business strategies, including profitability analysis, risk management, and investment performance reviews. Prepare comprehensive financial reports in both Japanese and English.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the bank’s investment goals. Work closely with senior management to guide long-term financial planning and decision-making.
  • Client Relations: Serve as a key point of contact for Japanese clients, handling inquiries, presentations, and negotiations in Japanese. Ensure clear communication and strong relationships with both Japanese and English-speaking clients.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Monitor compliance with financial regulations and tax laws in Japan and internationally. Ensure all financial activities meet the standards of regulatory bodies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including investment bankers, legal, and compliance departments, providing financial insights and recommendations.
  • Risk Management: Identify financial risks and implement strategies to mitigate them, ensuring the bank’s financial health and stability.
  • Translation & Communication: Translate financial documents, reports, and communications between Japanese and English as needed. Facilitate meetings, presentations, and negotiations in both languages.

Required Skills

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in financial management, investment banking, or a related field. Experience working in a Japanese financial institution is highly desirable.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in both Japanese and English, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both languages.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in financial analysis tools, MS Excel, financial modeling, and accounting software.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of Japanese financial markets, regulations, and business practices. Familiarity with global investment banking operations and regulations.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
  • Certifications: CFA, CPA, or similar financial certification is a plus.
