Job Description

Job Purpose

Sr. Sales & Business Development Manager is expected to drive and execute sales objectives by improving the existing programs, winning new programs to implement and developing new businesses, and attain the assigned financial goals such as EBITDA for the assigned business/ clients/ accounts, while ensuring revenue generating decisions by the company are made in line with Assurant risk appetite.

Developing products/ programs for the assigned business/ clients/ accounts is another essential responsibility of this position to grow the assigned business/ clients/ accounts.

Primary Job Accountabilities/Responsibilities

With support and guidance from more experienced/ senior sales & BD colleagues, i.e. Sales & BD Director/ VP;

  • Establish goals and financial targets each year for the assigned business/ clients/ accounts ensuring alignment with Japan BD & Sales team’s overall goals and plans
  • In charge of the entire sales and business development process end to end from coming up with products for assigned business/ clients/ accounts, generating new sales opportunities, ensuring profitable retention of existing programs, analyzing and evaluating the effectiveness of sales activities including costs, project management for deals, and to achieve the goals and financial targets
  • Identify new growth opportunities for the assigned business/ clients/ accounts, securing future revenue generation
  • Retain clients and build healthy pipeline of new businesses
  • Manage P&L for the assigned business/ clients/ accounts – regular review of progress vs. goals, plan adjustments/ forecasts, etc. – and provide regular reporting to the leadership team
  • Carry out analysis on competitor, market trends, upcoming new technologies/ products and report on the competitive environment with proposals on how to increase and/or upsell attachment rate, etc. in order to grow the business
  • Drive and increase performance of assigned existing programs
  • Ensure compliance to controls, procedures, standards, and service levels by monitoring key indicators
  • Collaborate with various teams to achieve goals
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by manager

General Requirements

Minimum Experience Level Over 3 years
Career Level Mid Career
Minimum English Level Fluent (Amount Used: English usage about 50%)
Minimum Japanese Level Fluent
Minimum Education Level Bachelor's Degree
Visa Status Permission to work in Japan required

Required Skills

Basic Qualifications Required - Experience, Skills, and Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Min 5 years of sales or business development experience
  • Ability to effectively and logically communicate across the organization regardless of the position/ levels and with external parties both in Japanese and English
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem identifying and solving skills
  • Good at prioritizing, making sound judgment, and managing various stakeholders
  • Strong sense of compliance and high integrity
  • Ability to influence others

Preferred Experience, Skills, and Knowledge

  • MBA or Master’s degree in business, finance or related field
  • Strategy acumen, with experience in using analytical insight and employing thoughtful structures to solve problems and communicate solutions
  • Working experience in or experience in dealing with mobile industry
