Job Description

As the brand's HR Manager in Tokyo, Japan, you will play a critical role in driving HR strategies aligned with business objectives while fostering a positive and inclusive work environment. Reporting directly to the Director of HR, you will oversee all HR operations in Japan and manage a team of one subordinate, while engaging with counterparts in the parent company's other brands as well as across the APAC region.

Description

HR Strategy and Planning:

  • Collaborate with the Director of HR to develop and implement HR strategies that support the organization's business goals and align with global HR policies.
  • Provide strategic HR guidance to senior management and department heads on workforce planning, talent acquisition, and succession planning.

Employee Relations and Engagement:

  • Act as a trusted advisor to managers and employees on HR-related matters, ensuring compliance with local labor laws and company policies.
  • Promote a positive work culture through effective communication, employee recognition programs, and initiatives that enhance employee engagement and satisfaction.

Talent Acquisition and Management:

  • Oversee the recruitment process for all levels of positions, ensuring a seamless candidate experience and alignment with the organization's talent needs.
  • Implement onboarding programs to integrate new hires into the organization and support their development.

Performance Management and Development:

  • Manage performance appraisal processes and provide coaching to managers on performance management techniques.
  • Identify training and development needs and collaborate with the Learning & Development (L&D) team to implement programs that enhance employee skills and capabilities.

HR Operations and Compliance:

  • Manage day-to-day HR operations including payroll, benefits administration, HRIS maintenance, and record-keeping.
  • Ensure compliance with local labor laws, regulations, and organizational policies, updating policies and practices as necessary.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop your subordinate, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring their professional growth within the organization.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of Japanese labor laws, HR practices, and cultural nuances
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities with experience in managing and developing a team
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence and build relationships at all organizational levels
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate business needs into actionable HR initiatives
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS systems
  • Business level English with fluent Japanese
