Senior Java Engineer

Company Profile

A successful fintech company in Tokyo, Japan, seeking an experienced Backend Engineer to collaborate on developing a common infrastructure that will deliver large-scale data to the service side more quickly and robustly using microservices.

The Role

As a Sr. Backend Engineer, you will be responsible for developing project requirements and driving the technical direction of our projects.

• You will play an important role in assisting team members through technical challenges.
• Your tasks will also involve reviewing current operations to identify risks and redundancies.
• You will also develop a comprehensive business understanding, notably in data system management through account aggregation and cross-service application.
• In addition to your core duties for technical progress, you will help design and implement infrastructure initiatives to improve service stability.

Your Skills

Must-Have:

• 5+ years of expertise in developing/operating medium to large-scale online services (ideally in Go, Java)
• Database knowledge, especially relational databases and SQL.
• Experience in designing and developing Web APIs and microservices
• Experience in software architecture and systems testing, ensuring the resilience and scalability of solutions

Nice-to-have:

• Experience creating systems on AWS.
• Understanding of software architecture design using DDD (domain driven design)
• Experience dealing with transnational teams and developing using Kafka.
• Experience in leading teams

Required language skills:

• Business level English proficiency (TOEIC score of 700 or higher, comparable)
• Japanese proficiency is a plus (not mandatory).
