Job Description

IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY
Functions as primarily a customer interface for design and development position with responsibility for Gentherm seat comfort systems and technologies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that product is designed within various industry quality standards according to applicable specification in a safe, cost efficient and timely manner while following the APQP process.
  • Act as a technical liaison between customer and internal teams; establish good working relationship with customers.
  • Together with Project Manager and key account manager, drive project locally
  • Research and initiate to find new opportunity of project as active communication with customer
  • Obtain, review, clarify, analyze and negotiate customer requirements and specifications with customers.
  • Define specifications together with the customer by direct communication and regular interface, lead design reviews with customer.
  • Assist in the establishment of system requirements and specifications using correct engineering and technical disciplines.
  • Support, review and analyze design FMEA’s, DVP&R, BOM and drawings.
  • Support design engineer to develop designs based on customer requirements and specifications.
  • Attend, support and participate in engineering development meetings, program launches with the customer, customer testing as per need
  • Assure that project timing, performance, and cost targets are met.
  • Lead product improvement and cost reduction efforts through the product life cycle.
  • Continuously improve existing product design and internal processes to increase customer satisfaction.
  • Position requires domestic and international travel.
  • Attend sales activities and support to develop new business.
  • Support team to create VAVE activity and generate product innovation idea.
  • Other duties as assigned by the reporting Manager.

TRAVEL: Accepting travel up to 25%, mainly Japan Local, occasionally Global.

Required Skills

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical, electrical, advanced Engineering, product
    development, Technical support or Technical sales.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering.
  • Proactive, logical and structured thinking.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Good presentation skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Working experience as systems engineer for automotive industry.
  • emonstrated competence in the design of mechanical and/or electromechanical  (mechatronics) systems
  • Working knowledge of automotive plastic and metal forming processes.
  • Working knowledge of automotive electronics components.
  • Automotive project management experience (knowledge of APQP process a plus)
  • Working knowledge of FMEA’s
  • Proven record of accomplishment with product development that launched into high volume production, good communication and business relations skills.
  • Excellent English communication skills – verbal and written. Chinese is a plus.
  • Thermal Management experience
  • Experience using CATIA, AutoCAD or CFD simulation software.
  • Product development experiences with Japanese OEM and/or Tier1 suppliers.
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle ECU and communication protocol (CAN, LIN)
  • Basic knowledge of vehicle communication software and related tools(CANalyzer or similar tools)
  • Basic knowledge of ASPICE.
  • Basic knowledge of safety function, cybersecurity.
